In Memory

It has been a year since we lost our founder and visionary Dottie Berger MacKinnon, but we have continued on in her honor and memory, ensuring that foster children are treated with care and dignity. Dottie believed that every child deserved the chance to be nurtured, protected, and loved and this has become the beacon that guides our actions in Dottie’s absence. Although her absence is physical, her presence is as strong as it was when she was with us; the times when she stopped in the pre-school classroom and helped a child paint a butterfly or when she sat down with a baby on her lap. There were even times when she would commiserate with a teen, always quick to assure him that things would get better. Dottie’s high standards continue to guide our actions, and we celebrate her legacy with renewed vigor this October.
We invite you to support A Kid's Place in memory of Dottie during the month of October.
