If you attended our Annual Gala this past February, you may remember meeting this special young lady, Karen. Karen spoke about her time and experience at A Kid’s Place and how it helped shape her into the person she is today. Flash forward, to now, we’re over-joyed to be celebrating her on graduating from University of California, Berkeley!! Check out this special message from Karen about her future plans…
“I want to express my deepest gratitude for the unwavering support and guidance AKP provided me during some of the most challenging times of my life. Thanks to your encouragement and resources, I am proud that I have graduated with my bachelor’s degree. This milestone marks not just the completion of my academic journey, but the beginning of a new chapter filled with stability, hope and love.
The foundation A Kid’s Place helped me build has been crucial in setting the state for a healthy and promising future. I cannot thank AKP enough for believing in me and for the role they played in my journey. The support has made a profound difference, and I will carry the lessons and values you instilled in me throughout my life.
I’m currently job searching and have some interviews lined up in Seattle. The Bay Area is lovely but I’m looking to change my environment and look forward to being in a place that is tranquil and not so fast paced. I am mainly looking for program director roles in the field of youth development, youth advocacy, etc. I’m going to apply to graduate school this upcoming cycle. I’ll definitely keep y’all updated on admissions!” -Karen
We can’t wait to see all the amazing things she does going forward! We couldn’t be more proud!
