April 10th is National Sibling Day!
A Kid’s Place of Tampa Bay’s primary focus is to keep sibling groups together and to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing home for children who need to be in foster care. The Siblings Connected Program at A Kid’s Place provides a home-like atmosphere with live-in house parents where siblings live together. Services offered at the residential facility include onsite education, behavioral, dental, educational, and speech development services are also provided. Since inception, A Kid’s Place has helped nearly 1,000 foster children and over 400 families.
“Sibling relationships – and 80 percent of Americans have at least one – outlast marriages, survive the death of parents, and resurface after quarrels that would sink any friendship. They flourish in a thousand incarnations of closeness and distance, warmth, loyalty and distrust.” — Erica E. Goode, “The Secret World of Siblings,” U.S. News & World Report, 10 January 1994
94% of all children moving on from A Kid’s Place remain with their siblings.
