Hurricane Milton and Helene certainly left an impression on our communities. Like many others, our admin building lost power, and we experienced some damages such as fallen trees and parts of our fences were completely broken down. While our houses’ generators worked perfectly to keep our kids comfortable, our large generator, which powers our walk-in fridge, freezer, and lift station (sewer) for the entire campus, unfortunately did not activate. Replacing the main generator, fixing the fence, and resorting damages had become a top priority for us looking into the new year. Rebuilding takes time and resources; we estimated about $221,000 for the necessary campus repairs and the purchase of a new generator for our administration building. Because of this, we couldn’t be more grateful than to receive some very gracious gifts from The Lightning Foundation through the Tampa Bay Strong 2024 Fund, The Spurlino Foundation, The MBJ Foundation, and Community Foundation Partners to help us get everything back to normal! This generous donation is a game-changer for us—now, we can repair our generator, fix our broken fence and continue focusing on keeping our children in a safe and nurturing environment. Thank you, everyone —you’re all true MVPs!
