AKP’s Race into Summer Camp Ends and Classroom Preparations Begin!

This summer, A Kid’s Place proudly hosted our Race into Summer camp, an exciting Olympic-themed program designed to help prevent the summer slide while keeping learning fun and engaging. Throughout the summer, campers participated in reading, math, skill-building, and STEM activities that strengthened their academic abilities while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and confidence.

Our camp began with a grand Olympic Opening Ceremony that filled everyone with excitement and set the tone for an unforgettable summer. As the weeks went on, students enjoyed hands-on learning experiences.

We concluded our Race into Summer camp with a memorable Closing Ceremony featuring an Olympic parade. A student proudly carried the American flag while another held the Olympic torch as everyone entered to the sound of Olympic music. Each child had the opportunity to stand on the winners’ podium, receive a medal and a certificate. They shared their favorite camp activity. Their responses included reading, math, extracting oil from water, and making lemonade. One of our youngest campers captured everyone’s hearts when asked about his favorite part of camp. With a big smile, he simply replied, “I like school!” It was a wonderful introduction to learning, and his days were filled with joy as he spent the summer learning and growing alongside the big kids.

The celebration concluded with lunch and a special birthday celebration for Ms. Zakiya. It was a wonderful day filled with learning, laughter, fun, friendship, and fellowship. We are grateful for an incredible summer and look forward to creating even more memories together next year.
