Cooking Up Confidence at A Kid’s Place

There is nothing quite like the warm, delicious smell of a home-cooked meal filling the room. At A Kid’s Place, kitchen time is about way more than just eating good food. It is where our kids build the confidence and independence they need for bright, successful futures!

Thanks to our amazing partners at Where Love Grows, our kids get hands-on experience right in the kitchen. Learning to cook is a crucial life skill for every young person, especially as they prepare to transition into adulthood. During these fun cooking classes, our kids learn how to safely chop vegetables, crack eggs, follow recipes, use kitchen appliances, and prepare healthy meals.

Cooking is a huge step toward independence, but it is just one part of the bigger picture. Our dedicated Independent Living Specialist, Tamyr, works hard every single day to make sure our kids are ready for the real world. Tamyr guides our teens through essential life skills that every young adult needs.

Growing up and moving out on your own can feel overwhelming. For children in foster care, having these practical tools gives them a real sense of security and confidence. When our youth leave A Kid’s Place, we want them to feel independent and capable to take on whatever comes next. Whether that means cooking a balanced meal, managing a paycheck, or landing their very first job, they will have the tools to succeed!

Every young person deserves the chance to step confidently into adulthood. You can help make that happen! Your generous gift supports programs like Independent Living, provides essential everyday supplies, and funds hands-on classes for our children.

Donate to A Kid’s Place today and help us empower our children with the tools and support they need to thrive!
