Auden Tate is an American football wide receiver for the NFL Cincinnati Bengals. He has lived in Tampa, FL since he was in the 10th grade where he found his passion for football and earned a scholarship to play football at Florida State University.

During these unprecedented times, Auden wanted to give back to a local Non-Profit in his home town. When he found A Kid’s Place he knew it was the perfect fit since foster care is near and dear to his family who has adopted children into their own family. Auden recently purchased snacks, drinks, and household items off of our Amazon wish list for the children living here.

We had the opportunity to thank Auden over the phone and interview him for our “Take 5” with A Kid’s Place. Read below see his answers.

Why is it important for you to give back to the Tampa Community?
It’s where I live, and I want to help my community, I grew up always helping others. I plan on being here after I retire. This is my home!

Who were your early heroes or mentors? How did they help shape you into the leader you are today?
My dad. He was a great father, husband, and uncle. He was always doing it right.

What do you love most about Tampa Bay?
The weather! Having heat all year round is nice.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
Malcom X and Martin Luther King. I’d like to pick their brain.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Something tech related. Building computers and coding.

Best meal you have ever had?
Ox tails, rice, and peas.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Black, it’s my favorite color

What is a secret talent that no one knows?
I can play the piano pretty well. I played as a kid.

If you could only eat one thing for a week, what would it be?
Salmon. It’s healthy and delicious, and there are so many different ways you can cook it!

Words of advice for our kids at A Kid’s Place?
You’re not in the best situation, but keep your mind to where you want to be, and focus on that when things get tough.

Who is your favorite super hero?
Batman

If you could be a superhero… What would your name and power be?
Tate the Great! And Invincibility

What is your favorite thing about playing football?
Being with your team, and the camaraderie between all the players. I love Cincinnati. It’s a tough city, but it’s good. I like it.
